Process Simulations

Process Simulations

As an eLearning developer for front desk associates at a pediatric healthcare company, I developed a training path consisting of 6 modules which included several process simulations for patient registration and payment processes.

The following are samples from two of these process simulations.

Process Payments

  • This sample includes a demo video followed by a brief process simulation in which the learner practices the steps for processing a payment.

  • This simulation was developed using a test patient and the patient information shown is fake.

  • All proprietary information has been removed.

Interactive Story

In collaboration with SMEs and Stakeholders, I developed quality and safety training for a pediatric healthcare organization which was centered around travel themes. Using these themes, learners became part of the story as they traveled through the content.

The following are brief samples from two of the learning modules.

Workplace Safety Training

"The Law of the Garbage Truck"

  • Story used with written permission from the author: David J. Pollay.

  • I developed this workplace safety training in response to a new requirement from accrediting organizations. The new training requirement was in response to the rise in workplace violence observed in healthcare organizations during and following the Covid-19 pandemic.

  • The analogy of the garbage truck phenomenon was carried out as a theme for Workplace Safety Training.

Healthcare Safety Training

"Liz's New Car" and "Sam's RV"

  • I wrote the scripting for both of the following videos.

  • These videos were used in the introduction to the Healthcare Safety Training showcased above in the Interactive Story section of my portfolio.

  • The stories from these intro videos were referenced and applied to concepts throughout the training module.

New Hire Systems Registration
flowchart.png

Systems registration for new hires at a healthcare organization can be confusing. After identifying gaps in the process, realizing that new hires often skipped initial steps, I created this interactive flowchart to be sent to new hires in their Day 1 welcome email.

This improved the systems registration process and reduced the number of service desk calls.

Course Outline Blueprint

I created this course outline blueprint to aid in collaboration with SMEs during the design process of learning projects. This helped members of the project team to align content to learning objectives while remaining focused on the targeted outcome.

Items placed in the "Further Considerations" category included content that may not be relevant to the learning objectives, but could be presented in a job aid, or added to future learning modules. This was especially helpful when SMEs from multiple departments were contributing content to the same training module.

Adult Learning Theory

I developed this Rise Microlearning module after facilitating the same course in a virtual ILT for clinical leaders. I published this module on our company intranet so that it was available to all leaders who train and facilitate presentations.

Instructor-led Training (ILT)

WatchPat ILT
WatchPatILTIDD-images-0.jpg

I designed and developed a complete ILT for a volunteer client who was starting a respiratory clinic. Her clinicians would be training patients in the use of a home sleep test device. This ILT was developed to prepare the clinicians to train their patients.

Train the Trainer: Adult Learning Theory

I designed, developed, and facilitated this "train the trainer" ILT for clinical leaders who would be facilitating in-person training for their teams.
